A model built for accountability
IMI's self-sustaining model is more than a strategy — it is a form of accountability. Most charitable dollars are spent once and are gone. At IMI, donations build assets that keep producing: farms, tilapia ponds, a feed mill, stores, trade schools, and the businesses that support safe houses in the United States. A gift made once keeps feeding children and sheltering survivors year after year.
You can see the results of that discipline in Honduras, where the flagshipCity of Refugeis nearly self-sustaining: 90 children housed and educated, 100 staff employed, and a campus of more than 80 buildings that passes annual government inspections. The 2008 financial crisis taught us that children's lives should never depend on next month's donations — and we rebuilt the entire ministry around that lesson.
