Eleven New Children Welcomed at the City of Refuge
Dr. Teresa Stamman wrote home from Honduras with news that made our whole ministry family celebrate: eleven new children have arrived at the City of Refuge.
In her letter, Teresa described how the children who already live at the City of Refuge threw themselves into welcoming the newcomers. They taught them hockey and swimming, showed them around, and folded them into the family without hesitation. “They love the food, the pool, the soccer field,” Teresa wrote of the new arrivals. “They love The City of Refuge.”
The letter arrived on the heels of a joyful New Year celebration with the children, complete with a special meal and fireworks. Teresa also shared the small, personal moments that make the City of Refuge a home rather than an institution: trips into town for ice cream and Christmas decorations, taken two kids at a time so each child gets real one-on-one attention.
There was an update on little Esther, too. The toddler is growing well and has started forming sentences, in both Spanish and English.
With the new school year starting, Teresa has been holding individual meetings with all of the workers, and she met with the long-term missionaries to plan the upcoming mission trips.
Eleven more children are now safe, fed, in school, and surrounded by brothers and sisters who welcomed them like they had always belonged. Because now, they do.
